Apt AJN front page: Avodah Zarah and Giluy Arayot...

What happened to Shefichat Damim?

Some may say that that the depiction of the church steeple topped by a cross is symbolic and would not be out of place in most AJN editions…

PS: Due to Tzeniut concerns of our readers, we have modified the banner photograph.

  1. How do the AJN Watch editor(s) justify publishing unreleased AJN artwork? This front cover appeared on the AJN Watch blog in advance of it hitting the streets. That must constitute theft, receiving stolen goods or being an accessory to theft. Not very kosher.

  2. I was actually amazed at how the Watchers got hol dof the newspaper a day early

  3. I think Stealth is overreacting. The Jewish News is probably extremely pleased to get some free publicity for this week's issue.

Do you think anyone WON"T buy it because they have seen the front page here?

  5. If they are not printing something abhorent on page 1, then they are doing it on page 2 and so on? I am not in slightest bit surprised.

  6. For those readers who may not know, the three cardinal sins of Judaism are avoda zara (idolatry), gilui arayot (incest/adultery), and shefichat damim (murder). While the cover photo is offensive and inappropriate, I am not convinced it falls into the catagory of any of the above mentioned aveiras (sins).

  7. Interfaith relationships will continue to decline in proportion to the vast amount of time and effort and money that the JCCV spends on what they call Interfaith Dialogue.
We are seeting ourselves up for a lot of this.
There are so many internal issues that need addressing, yet the JCCV projects so much of its effort outisde the community. "Charity begins at home".

  8. RP, of course the cover isn't one or more of the actual sins. But it sure symbolises them.

  9. I think the AJN should feature a cross on its masthead every week.

On sec ond thoughts, maybe it isn't appropriate as they are probably against ALL religions

  11. Sorry, Stealth, trade secret.
But rest assured it was 100% Kosher.
No "theft, receiving stolen goods or being an accessory to theft".
